Hang Out At Service Sundays with Food on Foot

Food on Foot is a nonprofit dedicated to assisting our unhoused and low-income neighbors in Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing, and a fresh start through life-skills training, full-time employment, and permanent housing. They work out of their Hollywood HQ to give out food, build community with those in their jobs and housing programs, and raise spirits of those in tough situations. Being a volunteer at one of their service sundays is not only an incredible help, but its also fanstastically fun! Kids 6 and up are welcome to come, and children 12 and under must have a chaperone. GrowGood works with the Salvation Army Bell Shelter to provide residents and community memebers access to nutritious and clean foods by tending to an organic community garden. Their garden-based programing uses healthy food as a way to help people heal through learning new skills, eating healthy food, and getting work expierence. Volunteer and work at the GrowGood farm! Masks required. Also bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, gloves and hand tools if you have them. Children 12 and over are welcome accompanied by an adult. Pack Food Bags for Low Income Kids with Giving Children Hope

Volunteer on Fridays with Giving Children Hope! They distribute food to roughly 300 families from their We've Got Your Back program. This means they have been identified by school partners as having risk factors such as housing insecurity, food insecurity, and or lack of employment. At the distribution, you will load boxes of produce, meat, dairy, and more into the vehicles. They need volunteers to help prep bags and load them into the cars. Sponsor a New Home for ASOH recipients

Virtual home sponsorships are available for individuals and small groups. Donate $7,000 or create your own fundraising campaign here and raise the $7,000 to sponsor a virtual home creation. You will receive a video of the beneficiary receiving their home creation and their words of appreciation for what goals will now be attainable thanks to the home that you made possible. Become a Top Chef for Alexandria House

Alexandria House's cooking program serves current residents and other members of the Alexandria House community. It is a wonderful treat for women living in residence when volunteers come to cook dinner! Just like you, they have a busy life with work, school and kids and can use a “night off “ too! Here are a few ways to participate as a Top Chef: Preparing dinner for 40 people at your site and dropping off at Alexandria House. Purchasing dinner from a local restaurant for 40 and having it delivered to Alexandria House. Purchasing dinner from one of our past residents for $250.00 and they will arrange to drop off at Alexandria House. Cooking dinner at Alexandria House with the following guidelines: A maximum of 6 volunteers in a group. Please practice social distancing guidelines.
