Work at the Access Center with Safe Place fo Youth

Volunteers are absolutely essential to SPY’s mission. They’re in need of volunteers to participate in shifts at their Access Center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. There are two shifts, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm or from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Responsibilities and opportunities include things like: Run check-in or the desk. Greet youth as they arrive or help them make sure youth access the showers they need. Monitor the Clothing Closet. Each day, youth members can select one outfit from the clothing closet. Get involved with Healing Arts or the Digital Arts Lab. Volunteers with a passion for arts, yoga, graphic design or more may find this volunteering opportunity especially rewarding. Outreach. Engage with street-based youth out in the community alongside one of their Outreach and Engagement Case Managers, providing access to survival resources and SPY's onsite programs. Housing Sites. Support the clothing closet, donation transport, and more across each of their housing sites. And more! Food Pantry Volunteer APLA Health

The Vance North Necessities of Life Program (NOLP) provides groceries to over 1,700 clients who live on a limited income. Clients are able to access the food bank weekly, and take home five bags of groceries per visit. They receive a wide variety of predetermined items that include fresh dairy, frozen meats, fresh produce, and an assortment of canned and dry goods that cover 100% of weekly meals as well as hygiene items and cleaning supplies. NOLP is one of the largest programs at APLA Health, and have a number of opportunities for volunteers, such as distributing groceries to clients, pre-bagging groceries, filing, and stocking shelves. REQUIREMENTS: The desire to help improve the quality of life of low-income people with HIV. Enjoy working in a warehouse environment. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism. Outgoing personality, excellent communication skills. Bilingual Spanish helpful, as well as some knowledge of HIV/AIDS. Proof of negative tuberculosis test signed by a licensed California physician and dated within the last 12 months. Proof of COVID full vaccination. A person is fully vaccinated when they have received their booster dose or they received their initial vaccine series but are not yet eligible for their booster. Assemble Boxes of Food for Low-Income Seniors

Every person that volunteers with the OC Food Bank will be an empowering force to helping change the community. Volunteers will be working on assembly lines packing a variety of food items into boxes that will be serving approximately 25,500 low-income seniors monthly. These boxes are eventually distributed to over 70 sites all throughout Orange County and surrounding areas. This is a high energy, fast-paced event well loved by volunteers. Thyey are currently adhering to CDC guidelines & practicing social distancing requirements. Please note that masks, gloves, & hand sanitizer are available. Pack Food Bags for Low Income Kids with Giving Children Hope

Volunteer on Fridays with Giving Children Hope! They distribute food to roughly 300 families from their We've Got Your Back program. This means they have been identified by school partners as having risk factors such as housing insecurity, food insecurity, and or lack of employment. At the distribution, you will load boxes of produce, meat, dairy, and more into the vehicles. They need volunteers to help prep bags and load them into the cars. Transport Food Bags for North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry

North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry needs your help transporting their food bags! You will bring packed food bags up from the basement in the elevator on carts. Bags are then loaded onto pantry-owned vehicles. You must then drive or be driven to First Christian Church (on the corner of Colfax and Moorpark) to help unload the bags into the pantry distribution center. Once a month, they require help unloading pallets of food from the large truck, and carting it down into the temple basement. Closed shooes and masks are required. Hours given for service. Get in the Dirt with GrowGood

GrowGood works with the Salvation Army Bell Shelter to provide residents and community memebers access to nutritious and clean foods by tending to an organic community garden. Their garden-based programing uses healthy food as a way to help people heal through learning new skills, eating healthy food, and getting work expierence. Volunteer and work at the GrowGood farm! Masks required. Also bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, gloves and hand tools if you have them. Children 12 and over are welcome accompanied by an adult. Provide Breakfast to PATH

PATH provides meals to their residents in interim housing. When groups sign up to provide meals, it helps PATH focus its resources on providing housing and support services for their residents. Their male veterans in West LA love to have home-cooked meals from volunteers. Shifts are currently available at their West LA site. They understand not everyone is comfortable with on-site volunteering. If you want to support the male veterans, ask them about sponsoring a meal through a meal delivery service or catering! Hang Out At Service Sundays with Food on Foot

Food on Foot is a nonprofit dedicated to assisting our unhoused and low-income neighbors in Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing, and a fresh start through life-skills training, full-time employment, and permanent housing. They work out of their Hollywood HQ to give out food, build community with those in their jobs and housing programs, and raise spirits of those in tough situations. Being a volunteer at one of their service sundays is not only an incredible help, but its also fanstastically fun! Kids 6 and up are welcome to come, and children 12 and under must have a chaperone.
