Sort and Distribute Food at Salvation Army Glendale’s Food Pantry
The Salvation Army Glendale's Food Pantry program serves hundreds of invidiuals and families every month. They have recently transitioned into a 'marketplace' system, which gives their clients the independence to choose their own food options. In order to serve the community, Salvation Army Glendale need volunteers to help maintain the pantry by spending a couple of hours each week performing one (or more) of the following tasks: 1. Sort incoming food donations by type. 2. Place sorted foods in the designated area. 3. Help restock the marketplace floor as needed. 4. Assist/interact with clients. They have opportunities available Monday through Friday. Volunteers under 18 years old need to be supervised by an adult. Additionally, this opportunity involves the lifting of light weight items such as canned food, bread, etc. This is a great opportunity to bless the community! Join Big Sunday and Volunteer for a TM@10
We meet every Thursday morning, from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. And we host hands-on projects to help local nonprofits. At TM@10 we’ve assembled birthday gifts for folks in shelters; written letters to soldiers stationed overseas; packed backpacks for ex-gang members starting college; made quilts for preemies; and about 1000 other things. Even better – and in classic Big Sunday fashion – it’s a great way for people to meet new people, work together, and enjoy some laughs while helping someone else. All projects will be in our headquarters: 6111 Melrose Ave. There’s street parking in front of our office or on June Street. Anyone 5 years of age or older must be fully vaccinated to participate. Please bring your vaccination card or digital proof. For now, we’ll be outside in the parking lot (entrance through Seward St), masked and distanced. Attendance is limited, everyone will be asked to sign a COVID-waiver, and you must sign up in advance. Click here for more details and to sign up: https://bigsunday.org/get-involved/tm10/
